Louis’ BIO

I always took things as they came, and never wanted to do anything on my own. I wanted the world to do everything for me. Turns out I was going nowhere in a hurry with that attitude. I needed something in my life to kick-start a new way of thinking. All it took was one email and the courage to send a “Yes, I want to help” reply.

That email contained the contents to change my life. I was working at Scotiabank with no future in the company, when I got the email from 6 asking for help or suggestions with his Lift for the Kids campaign. After reading the email, I was excited to help 6 with his dream. He was raising funds for SickKids. My little sister Ruby is currently a patient at SickKids with a tumor behind her eye and I would do anything to help her. So I was more than ready to help in any way I could. I wanted this to be the best campaign two average guys had ever put together.  I knew Scotiabank had fund-raising opportunities for employees to take advantage of if they are participating in a local charity. I emailed 6 back, telling him I had a little sister in the hospital and a good idea on how we could raise funds.

So that was the beginning of 6 Pack and I, and the Lift for the Kids foundation. I had to take that first initial step by replying to his offer and helping him make a difference in this world. I knew this was the beginning of a very bright future for the both of us.  Who knows where this is going to take us? There is a whole world out there for the taking. It doesn’t cost anything to have a drive or a dream. So drive hard and dream big.

Most of the people I know spend their time partying and drinking, but instead you spend your time helping a serious cause for stuff that matters. It is touching to hear of such stories when all I am worried about is how I am going to spend my money after work. The more we get caught up in our lives, the less we can actually get done, and there becomes less focus on things like equity and health.

You are right, Louis, it doesn’t cost anything to dream. Well now I’m dreamin’ buddy!!
