As a child Ryan “6 Pack” Lapadat use to read comic books and dreamed of one day growing up with super powers to help those who needed it. The super power he wanted the most was super strength. As time past, Ryan let go of his dream as it was deemed unrealistic and childish by his peers. Super heroes were not real.
Long time friend Louis Szpeflicki returned from the SickKids hospital in Toronto after visiting his very ill little sister. His visit to the hospital changed his life. He saw kids of various ages fighting for their lives. He swore at his sister’s bedside that he would make a difference.
6 Pack and Louis spoke not long after about how they both felt they were in a position to make a difference. 6 Pack, now the Canadian Weightlifting Champion, had long looked for the avenue to use his strength for good and live out his childhood dream he promised himself. Louis, struck with a heavy heart and motivation, was looking to keep his promise to his sister about helping her and sick children.
Together they formed Lift for the Kids, and have been raising money for charities across Ontario and soon to be the World. Lift for the Kids has helped with awareness campaigns, fundraising campaigns, and been involved with motivational speaking at public schools.
What we have accomplished in 2 short years:
- Raised enough money for the SickKids hospital in Toronto for one child’s chemo therapy treatment with two bus pulls at two public schools.
- Visited local public schools to speak to the kids about chasing dreams. The public school visits involved 6 Pack towing a twenty-six thousand pound school bus, and received National news coverage.
- Did an 8 city tour of Ontario visiting Trillium Cancer Camps for Kids in an awareness campaign. The awareness campaign was a success, with National news coverage, and a visit the kids would not forget (6 Pack towed them a school bus in every city, showing them any is possible).
- Given seminars at Universities to perfonal trainers on proper weight lifting techniques and form.
